April 26th - 28th, 2000

Those of us that arrived at Death Valley on Wednesday had an informal dinner. The following day the entire group drove out to Scotty's Castle to do some sightseeing. To get a complete story of the castle and its characters visit the National Park Service web site.

Then and now.

After we completed the tour the group asked for permission to take pictures with the cars parked in front of the castle. Surprisingly, the guard said it would be OK. So the cars were quickly arranged and a few photos were taken.
While waiting to take the group tour of the castle everyone piled into the Yukon XL for a drive out to Ubehebe Crater. This volcanic crater was caused by steam and is approximately 1/2 mile across.  We all took turns taking pictures. What isn't shown is how windy it was at the crater. It was possible to lean quite a ways into the breeze without falling over. Ubehebe_Crater.jpg (126895 bytes)

Thursday saw the rest of the group arriving at the Furnace Creek Inn and Furnace Creek Ranch for the official dinner get together. Entertainment included a performance by Barbara (Viola Vamp S) doing a song she wrote about those in attendance without their Boxsters. As you may expect, it turned out to be quite entertaining - not to mention hilarious.

Friday morning saw most of the group getting together for a drive to Artists Palette. A film crew from Germany was also staying at the hotel. They indicated that they would like to get some footage of the Boxsters as a group shot while on the move. Needless to say everyone was more than happy to oblige. Shots were taken on the way to Artists Palette as well as inside the scenic drive.
