April 28th - May 1st, 2000

We arrived in Las Vegas in mid-afternoon. After checking in we drove up to the Boxster Corral on the 5th floor of the parking structure. The view of Las Vegas was good, but not as nice as the sight of all of those Boxsters that were already up there.

Oops, too much gain on the camera.

Saturday morning saw the group heading over to Gaudin Porsche. There were two talk sessions. One consisted primarily of a training session normally provided to sales personnel. The other was a short video clip followed by comparing a Boxster and a Boxster S. Gaudin also had on hand a rather unique C4 that had been raised. This particular car is being used to do some off-road activities. It will be featured in some of the automotive magazines such as Road & Track, Car & Driver, etc.

These show the differences between the Boxster and the Boxster S rear suspension. It is not physically possible to install a 16" wheel on the Boxster S. That may help to explain why 17" wheels are standard on the S!

Saturday afternoon was the Boxster Galaxy at Lake Mead. This took a little longer to set up than most expected. By the time most people got back to the hotel there was just time for a late lunch and getting ready for the evening. Boxster Galaxy.jpg (50904 bytes)

Sunday morning consisted of a drive out to the Valley of Fire. This trip was very enjoyable. Here we are as the group waits at the entrance to get admitted and White Domes at the end of the road.

That was TBHL III and the World's Lowest BoxsterFest. Would we do it again? Yes! Even though my car did not show up in time and we had to drive the Yukon XL, we still had a great time. We're looking forward to next year when we'll have the chance to meet all of those that we didn't this time around.
